Wool Processing
Average staple length should be 3-5 inches.
Wool - Washing, Picking & carding (roving)
$17.00 per lb
Based on incoming weight. Includes 2 washing.
Alpaca -washing, picking & carded (roving)
$20.00 per lb
Based on incoming weight. Includes 2 washing.
Wool -washing, picking & carded (batts) 40”X40”
$20.00 per lb
Based on incoming weight. Includes 2 washing.
Wool -washing only (scouring)
$7.00 per lb
Based on incoming weight, 2 washing.
Extra wash
$7.00 per lb
There are time a fleece will benefit from an additional wash . If this is needed we will process and bill you accordingly.
Wash and Pick
$9.00 per lb
Based on incoming weight.
Additional Carding
$8.00 per lb
There are time a fleece will benefit from a second pass through the carder. If this is needed we will process and bill you accordingly.
Blending
$20.00
Per fleece and must be approved prior to sending.
Skirting
Fiber that comes to us without first being skirting will be assessed a $20.00 fee per fleece for us to do this step.
Moths
Fiber with moths, larvae or casings - DO NOT SEND this fiber, it will be returned at your expense and you may be charged a fumigation fee.
All Other Fibers and blends
For information on blending please give us a call. We would love to chat with you regarding your projects.
If your fiber goes on my skirting table for any reason there will be a 20.00 charge.
Additional information
Please review the Fiber Preparation page before sending your fiber to the mill. A processing order form MUST accompany each of your fleece. Without this form I won't know how you would like your fiber processed. This form can be downloaded on the Fiber Preparation page. Remember pricing is based on incoming weight, a thorough skirting is to your benefit.
At Shear Wool we take every precaution to ensure a quality product is returned to you. However, unforeseen circumstances can impact the quality of your roving. If this should happen we will contact you right away. Please understand that your fleece came from a live critter that roams in a the field all day long and as a result any number of things can happen to the fleece that is not detectable until it’s processed. As a result Shear Wool can not be held responsible.
When needed antistatic is used during processing.
If you bring your fiber to the mill and you are planning on picking it up rather than mailing after processing please do so within 7 days of invoicing. A $10.00 per day storage fee will be assessed for each day after 7.
